- Miss World Canada runner-up sues over crown — and Facebook fans
She claims to be a queen with no crown. He wants his sash back.
But a court battle between former Miss World Canada runner-up Tamara Jemuovic and pageant organizer Ike Lalji is about more than just hardware; the beauty queen says Lalji has also blocked access to her Facebook fans.
"The plaintiff had thousands of 'likes' on her Facebook page and had lost the reputation from her fans from all over the world," Jemuovic wrote in her notice of claim.
"The plaintiff's important emails are lost forever."
'She used her own crown'
Jemuovic is suing Lalji and Miss World Canada Pageant Inc. in Richmond, B.C., provincial court for $25,000 in lost prizes and damages.
Lalji has countersued for $25,000, claiming the Ontario beauty queen breached the terms of her contract by failing to attend promotional appearances and entering another beauty pageant while still holding her Miss World titles.
Jemuovic won the people's choice award and first runner-up at the Miss World Canada contest in May 2013.

But the 21-year-old claims Lalji failed to deliver on the prizes for both victories, which included two all-expenses-paid getaways to Las Vegas and a Facebook page.
She says he gave her a sash but never coughed up a crown.
"The defendant is in a breach of agreement by not providing the claimant with a crown, which was required of her to wear at every appearance," Jemuovic claims.
"Instead she used her own crown."
Facebook fiasco
In his reply, Lalji claims Jemuovic signed an agreement with the Miss World Canada Pageant agreeing not to participate in any other pageants until after May 2014.
But Lalji claims Jemuovic "concealed" her participation in another pageant: Canada's Perfect Miss. He says she used her Miss World Canada Facebook page to post information about the other pageant.
Lalji is countersuing Jemuovic for allegedly failing to attend 23 fundraising events organized by Miss World Canada contestants.
He claims she also failed to return her sash by registered mail.
A former Miss Teen Greater Ontario Area and Miss Serbian Southern Ontario, Jemuovic was crowned Canada's Perfect Miss 2014. But she says Lalji was well aware of her participation in the tournament.
And she claims another runner-up posted information about her progress in a Miss Earth Canada competition without any consequences; Jemuovic claims Lalji deleted her Facebook page.
"The claimant went through a lot of trouble contacting Facebook directly to give her access to her fans that were disconnected from her in hopes to ruin the relationship that the claimant worked extremely hard to build with over 6,000 devoted fans," Jemuovic wrote.
She says she didn't return her sash because she was still using it for appearances.
None of the claims have been proven in court.
